QUEENSTOWN NEW ZEALAND

What a great place Queenstown is, I was lucky enough to get 6 days in Queenstown last month.  I couldn’t get over the fact that it didn’t get dark until around 9:30 so it was great to be able to go out and walk around and eat late.  The weather closed in for a few…

Stuart - I’m sure you wouldn’t have had any issues if you were using a Canon…

December 16, 2011 - 9:03 am

Peta - Thanks Stuart, Queenstown is such a pretty place with lots of photographic opportunities. Camera played up on the trip so didn’t get as much as I would have liked but I am sure I will head back there in the near future.

Stuart Westmore - Great shots, Peta. My fav is the Evening Light pic, but they’re all excellent. Queenstown is a great spot.

December 6, 2011 - 11:39 pm

Peta - Thanks Ian. I have only been to NZ in winter so it was nice to see it in spring.

December 6, 2011 - 11:33 pm

Peta - Thanks Sandy.
I can’t imagine what only two hours of sunlight must be like. Look forward to more posts.

December 6, 2011 - 10:58 pm

Ian Wiese - The light in these shots is amazing!

December 6, 2011 - 5:33 pm

Sandy@Shots - The ‘walk in a forest’ shot does it for me, and as always, love the aerial stuff. It’s funny you saying it doesn’t get dark until 9.30pm…sounds great! We’re getting about 2 hours of daylight here in Norway and we never actually see the sun as it doesn’t even peak over the horizon….it has ‘long service leave’ until January! Light-ish at 10.30am….dark again at 12.30pm. Soak up some sunshime for me :-)

CANOLA FIELDS – SOUTHWEST WA

Its a great time for driving in the country, the Canola is just beautiful and the countryside so green.  I think this must be one of the best seasons in a very long time.

Peta - Thanks Mark, Yes it was such a contrast with a black sky and the yellow canola.

September 12, 2011 - 8:45 am

True North Mark - Crackas Peta…love the grey sky against the Canola…works a treat eh!

September 11, 2011 - 6:56 am

Peta - Thanks Andrea, Great to meet you also. Yes it was a good afternoon and camera is OK…so far….

September 11, 2011 - 6:53 am

Andrea Green - Hey Peta,
Great to meet you the other night, I had a good time how bout yourself? How did your camera go? Is it ok or are you off to the insurance office?
Your work is just stunning, I just love the shots that you’ve done of the canola, it’s gorgeous.

September 10, 2011 - 12:32 am

Peta - Thanks Shirley, yes it was a very black sky, just made it back to the car in time before the downpour.

September 9, 2011 - 12:31 pm

Shirl - A fabulous set, some of the best canola images I have seen. Works really well with the stormy sky :)

September 7, 2011 - 11:35 pm

Peta - Thanks Katrina, yes I like the old farmhouse as well, it’s weathered walls hold many stories from the early days.

September 7, 2011 - 3:10 pm

Katrina Bartley - Fabulous shots Peta, I love the atmosphere in the first shot, but the second shot is my fave. For me it really captures the essence of the country. Really nice work.

September 7, 2011 - 1:43 am

Peta - Thanks Stuart, yes it is quite mesmerising.

September 7, 2011 - 1:24 am

Stuart - Nice work, Peta. Particularly like the first one and the last one – the last one has that “somebody sprayed the field yellow” impact you only get with canola.

September 7, 2011 - 12:29 am

Peta - Thanks Ian, just managed to get a couple of shots before the downpour started…

September 7, 2011 - 12:25 am

Ian Wiese - I love the top one with the dark storm clouds – it is probably the best Canola image I have seen recently!

September 6, 2011 - 1:05 pm

Peta - Thanks Merv, doesnt look like much rain is due this week, though it poured as I was travelling to Albany on the Friday, I think I drove through three fronts with lots of rain and hail…

September 6, 2011 - 12:52 pm

mervfrench - Yes it is excellent everywhere at the moment . One more rain is needed to really make it to full potential though. You have been about Peta and captured some good ones here.

Karijini

Here are a few photos from a trip to Karijini. Karijini was so green after  a really good wet season, the waterfalls were stunning in the afternoon light.

Peta - Hi sandy, mark

I will post the correct one when I get back….
The Kimberley is indeed beautiful after the rain…..so green…

May 5, 2011 - 9:50 am

Sandy@Shots - Beautiful stuff but agree with Mr Stothard on the Hancock Gorge shot. Have to say the last shot is my favourite!! Classic!

May 4, 2011 - 11:50 pm

mervfrench - Lookin good. Have a great trip.

May 4, 2011 - 4:57 am

True North Mark - The best yet from the recent spate of shots from KJ Peta! The Hankcock one is a bit over sharpened I reckon and not sure about the vignette on the top one, but apart from that…all good!

May 2, 2011 - 12:49 pm

Stuart Westmore - Have a great trip – I’m envious!!

May 1, 2011 - 1:15 pm

Peta - Hi Stuart, thanks for that. I have so many to work on but just haven’t had the time.
In Broome and ready to leave tomorrow. We had to plan a new itinerary as the Gibb is closed at the moment, but all is good with a very exciting trip ahead.

May 1, 2011 - 11:24 am

Stuart Westmore - Hi Peta – great shots. Especially like the first one (“afterglow”) – the colours look fantastic. Cheers, Stuart

September 21, 2010 - 8:37 am

Dan - Great photos though I must say. Great composition and angles

September 21, 2010 - 8:36 am

Dan - Color is spelt colour in Australia. We speak and write the Queens English not the USA misspellings.

May 27, 2010 - 1:29 pm

True North Mark - Cracker shots Peta…I love em all!

I think the fav is the one with the person in the gorge and the colours in all the images have great colours!
