Well another year is coming to a close so I thought I would post a series of photos that have a special meaning to me. I was out snorkelling with the whale sharks and it was the last one for the day and only a few of us jumped in. The whale shark was slowly making his way past when suddenly he turned and put on a performance, he dived and then turned over a coupe of times then came up vertically and then carried on his way. It probably lasted for only a few minutes but it has been etched in mind forever. I was using slide film and had a 24-120 lens on which I had to zoom back to the 24mm end because he was so close, and that is not a good focal length to use in a flat port and I didn’t have a chance to alter any settings so they are not technically great but the experience was something I will never forget,
Have a great New Year.

Peta - Hi Colleen
Not sure but we know he is a young male, so it could be he was just curious. As far as I know this is very rare occurrence.
Colleen Treloggen - Do you know why it was swimming upside down? Is it unusual?
Peta - Thanks Nigel…I would love a housing for the D3
Nigel Gaunt - Nice sequence of shots oh for 3200 iso under water!

Jamie Paterson - Wow Peta,
This is so cool. I just love the fact that it has put on a show for you. I’d love to head over to Tonga one day where they let you swim with and photograph the Humpbacks.
Have a great 2011.
